ABC Local Plan 2041
Ashford Borough Council is preparing a new Local Plan for the borough and is inviting local communities to get involved in the process.
The council is holding a series in person events throughout the summer to provide communities with the opportunity to find out more about how the new Ashford Local Plan will be prepared, what it will cover, what stage are we at, and when we will go out to formal public consultation. There will be eight in person events across the borough and a further two virtual sessions in late August and early September (details of venues and timings are set out below).
During these events, the council are inviting communities to provide views and thoughts about their likes and dislikes about the borough, their aspirations for the borough over the next 15 years on matters such as the environment, future needs for local housing, jobs, green spaces and existing and new infrastructure etc. The council are also inviting feedback on the sites submitted through the call for sites (NB - published sites are available for information purposes only. The sites have not yet been assessed to check for their suitability for inclusion in the new Local Plan).

The current timeframe for progressing the Local Plan is set out in the Council's Local Development Scheme available here: The Local Development Scheme (LDS) contains the production timetable for Local Plans and other Development Plan Documents (DPD).
The timetable sets out that Regulation 18 is anticipated to commence in Spring 2024 and Regulation 19 in late Winter 2025. If they haven’t already, may I suggest encouraging your Parish Council’s to sign up to the Councils consultation portal ‘Have Your Say’ which will let them know the outcome of consultations and tell them about future consultations.
